Dr. Helen L. Warren, 78, of Little Falls, NJ died Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Paterson, NJ.
Born in Paterson, NJ she was a life long resident of Little Falls, NJ. Miss Warren received her B.S. Degree (magna cum laude) in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1954, earned her M.A. Degree from Columbia University in 1955 and was bestowed an Honorary Doctorate from FDU. She did additional graduate study at New York University’s School of Retailing and School of Education. She was a Professor Emeritus of Statistics and Quantitative Analysis in the Samuel J. Silberman College of Business Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, NJ Campus and also the Director of the COBA Advisement Center at the Rutherford Campus from 1955 until her retirement in 1993.
In 1957, Helen received the “Outstanding Retailing Teacher” Award by the Brand Names Foundation at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. She is coauthor of 1000 Questions on Retail Store Organization and Management and author of many articles in business and educational journals, authored a FDU pictorial history and was Editor of The Alpha Review at New York University.
During her thirty-eight year teaching career at Fairleigh Dickenson, she had been active in numerous decision making committees, such as the University Commission, University Senate, University Council and the President’s Advisory Committee, founder of the Sigma Honor Society at FDU. Professor Warren received the 1982-1983 Distinguished Achievement Award for outstanding service to the College of Business Administration and the University at large, was inducted into FDU Heritage Hall honoring distinguished individuals who have had a profound impact on FDU, was a member of the Legacy Guild and generously supported FDU through her charitable giving to the Dr. Helen Warren Endowed Scholarship, the FDU Annual Fund and The Dr. Helen L. Warren Scholarship Fund at Columbia University. Also was a member of the Pinnacle Society.
Miss Warren enjoyed travelling the World and loved cats.
She is survived by several cousins, many friends and neighbors.
Funeral Services are 9:15 am Wednesday from BIZUB-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, 47 Main Street, Little Falls and 10:00 am at Holy Angels R.C. Church, Little Falls. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Visiting Hours Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions should be made to FDU Annual Fund, 1000 River Road, H-DH3-12, Teaneck, NJ 07666
