DR. NICOLE DISHUK McKEON, 31 of North Coventry, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 29 at Temple University Hospital after suffering a stroke. Nicole was born on August 16, 1975 in Passaic, New Jersey to Michael and Margaret Dishuk, resided in Garfield, New Jersey before moving to West Paterson, New Jersey. Upon graduation from Paramus Catholic High School in 1993, Nicole studied Psychology at Villanova University where she achieved a B.A. in 1997. She continued her studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2005. Her training was accompanied by a doctoral internship at the Counseling Center at the University of Missouri at Columbia. Nicole was a firm believer in the scientist-practitioner approach to mental health devoting herself to the community as both a clinician and a researcher. Her research interests included alcohol use among college students and the interaction between social anxiety and alcohol consumption. A dedicated and passionate educator, Nicole was a professor of Psychology at Saint Joseph’s University and was recently hired at Immaculata University in Immaculata, Pennsylvania. Nicole is survived by her husband, Daniel, and her sons, Justin (4) and Brandon (2); her parents, Michael and Margaret Dishuk of West Paterson, NJ; her sister, Janette Dishuk of New Coventry, Pa.; her grandmother, Catherine Dishuk of Garfield, NJ; and her parents in law, James and Elaine McKeon of Kinnelon, NJ. Funeral Services will be 8:15 am Saturday from BIZUB-QUINLAN FUNERAL HOME, 515 Lexington Avenue and 9:00 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 63 Monroe St. @ Market St., Passaic, NJ. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook, NJ. Visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to National Mental Health Association 2000 N.
